Key Facts About Your Rental

This is a summary of the key facts you should know when hiring a vehicle, which will help you understand what will be included in your rental agreement.

The rental agreement will be entered into at the time and place of vehicle hire between you and our affiliate or franchisee of the Alamo Rent-A-Car brand that operates the branch location (referred to as “the Rental Company”) and will be governed by the law of the rental country. You should always read your rental agreement in full before signing it.

The Rental Company for your rental agreement will be MIRKAT LTD. To view the rental terms and conditions that you will enter into at the time of rental, please see Rental Terms and Conditions in the Rental Policies section.

Note - Unless you purchase a waiver or protection product or one is included in your reservation as specified below, to the extent permitted by the law applicable to your rental agreement, you are responsible to the Rental Company for theft or any damage to the vehicle during the full period of your vehicle hire. For rentals in most countries, you will be liable even if the accident was not your fault. If you are liable, your liability includes loss of revenue if the vehicle cannot be rented because it is damaged or stolen, a reasonable claims administration fee, diminishment of value, and any towing, storage or impound fees of the vehicle. Third-party liability protection is included in your reservation unless you have booked utilising an Account Number and third-party liability protection is specifically excluded via the associated Corporate Account agreement.

Minimum Rental Requirements

Your rental will be subject to the following minimum requirements:

  • AGE REQUIREMENTS

    MINIMUM RENTAL AGE IS 21 YEARS FOR ALL CAR GROUPS. FOR CAR GROUPS COMPACT SPECIALS CDMR, CDAR, CXMR, CFMN, INTERMEDIATE ICMR, IDMR, IFMR, FULL-SIZE FVMR AND PREMIUM PDMR A YOUNG DRIVERS FEE OF 3 EUR PER DAY APPLIES FOR DRIVERS AGED 21-22. THE YOUNG DRIVER FEE DOES NOT APPLY FOR CAR GROUPS MINI MDMR, ECONOMY EDMR, EDAR, AND COMPACT CCMR. THE MAXIMUM RENTAL AGE IS 75.

  • FORMS OF PAYMENT

    Renters must present their passport - for greek residents an id card will suffice, driving license and personal credit card. Acceptable credit cards are visa, mastercard, american express and unionpay - unionpay is accepted everywhere except - chalkidiki kassandra, chalkidiki sithonia, patra city, kavala airport, syros, lesvos downtown, mykonos, thassos, zakynthos. Cash cards can be used only for the payment of the rental. Due to processing time, credit card deposits may take up to 14 days after the return of vehicle for the monies to be returned to the customer. A deposit will be held of the drivers credit card which is equal to 650 euros for mini - mdmr - economy - edmr, edar - car groups, 900 euros for compact - cdmr, ccmr, cxmr, cdar, cfmn intermediate - icmr, idmr - car groups and 1400 euros for fullsize -fvmr - intermediate suv – ifmr - and premium – pdmr - car groups. For car groups mini a1 mdmr and economy b1 edmr, the renter has the opportunity to deposit in cash the deductible amount of cdw plus 150 euros per day instead of using a credit card. In this case the purchase of cdw coverage is mandatory. In the case cdw is not purchased, a valid credit card is required in order for the vehicle value to be held as a deposit.

  • RENTER REQUIREMENTS

    VALID INTERNATIONAL OR EU DRIVING LICENSE FOR AT LEAST 12 MONTHS, ID CARD OR PASSPORT IS REQUIRED. FOR GREEK RESIDENTS A PASSPORT IS NOT MANDATORY HOWEVER ID CARDS ARE REQUIRED.


Additional Rental Policies

Your rental will be subject to the following additional rental policies:

  • AFTER HOURS SERVICE

    Customer will park the car in the parking lot and a rental representative will be waiting for him/her at the rental desk in to collect it. After hour service in airport desks of Heraklion, Rhodes, Corfu cost 20.00 EUR plus airport fee and vat. After hours service from 22:00 to 07:30. After hour service in airport desks of Alexandroupolis, Kavala, Chios, Kefalonia, Samos, Karpathos, Kalamata, Preveza cost 20.00 EUR plus airport fee and vat. Service from 21:00 to 08:00. After hours service in airports of Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Araxos Patra, Chania, Kos, Lesvos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini, Zante Zakynthos, Volos, Skiathos cost 20 EUR plus VAT from 21:00 to 08:00. After hour service in airport of: Limnos - cost 20 EUR plus vat from 22:00 to 07:00 After hour service in all city stations and hotel desks cost 20.00 EUR plus vat and taxes. Service operates from 21:00 to 08:00.

  • CROSS BORDER POLICY

    Out of country rentals: Renters may drive the rental car to certain countries outside of Greece. Restrictions do apply. Out of country rentals require prior approval and are charged an additional 10.00 EUR per day with a 90.00 EUR fee for the green card. Out of country rentals are allowed only into following European Countries: Andorra, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Denmark, Finland, France, Gibraltar, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Croatia, Italy, the Vatican, San Marino, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Czech Republic, Fyrom, Hungary and Spain. Out of country rentals are not allowed to other countries not mentioned above. Process and publication of green card: The minimum time of the publication of a green card is 5 working days. The green card covers the rented vehicle with basic insurance -T.P.I.- as long as it remains in the borders of the country for which it is issued. Roadside assistance or car replacement while driving abroad is available.

  • REFUELING SERVICE

    THE RENTAL VEHICLE IS SUPPLIED WITH A FULL TANK OF FUEL. THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE RETURNED WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF FUEL OTHERWISE THE DIFFERENCE WILL BE CHARGED ACCORDING TO THE OFFICIAL FUEL PRICE.


Additional Charges & Liabilities

You will be responsible for the following additional charges or liabilities if incurred:

  • Additional rental charges for changes you make to the booked rental vehicle, rental period or optional products
  • Damages, theft or third-party liabilities not covered by a protection product in accordance with the rental agreement
  • Any fines or penalty charges relating to the operation of the vehicle during your rental period, such as parking or speeding fines, plus a reasonable administration fee
  • Rental charges for late returns
  • Any legal fees incurred collecting any payments due under the terms of the rental agreement
  • A reasonable collection fee if a vehicle is not returned to the original rental office
  • The cost of cleaning the vehicle if you return the vehicle in a dirty condition

When you complete the rental agreement you will be required to present a valid credit or debit card as security for any charges incurred during your rental. Your signature on the rental agreement will pre-authorise the Rental Company to charge the card for future payments that become due. The Rental Company may also hold a deposit against these future liabilities – see Forms of Payment & Deposits.


Vehicle return & Damages

When you return the vehicle, we recommend that you are remain present until the vehicle is inspected by the Rental Company. You may have to wait during busy times. If there is any change in condition of the rental vehicle which exceeds normal wear and tear then this will be recorded by the Rental Company on a written post rental inspection report a copy of which will be provided to you.

If you choose not to be present for the post-rental inspection the Rental Company will inspect the vehicle in your absence. In the event of any change of condition that exceeds normal wear and tear to the rental vehicle then the Rental Company will notify you and this will be recorded on a written post rental inspection report.

Please note your liability for damage extends until the vehicle is checked in by the Rental Company. Unless otherwise provided in the rental agreement, if you return the vehicle after the Rental Companies business hours, you will remain responsible for any damage or loss in accordance with the rental agreement until the Rental Company reopens and conducts the post-rental inspection.
